And it's gutted

The house is gutted!  So, so much better than the before pictures, not?

Remember the basement before?

Here's the after.  This is the creme de la creme of the project if you ask me!  It was so, so  bad and now it's swept clean!

We do get water in the basement tho so we have to figure that out and we have to find the septic.  The soil pipe goes straight out of the house about 8ft into a hillside so it must make a turn which has yet to be determined.  We are just praying that there is a septic and not a cess pool.  Time will tell.

No need for a gas mask to enter the house now!

The house will sit this way for awhile.  We are hoping to start the rebuild in the fall but we'll see how that timing goes.  We've been busy drawing houseplans and visiting home improvement stores to get an idea of what is even available for homes now.  Our current home was built in 1998 and much has changed since then.  DH is busy preparing the property for a crop and continues to clear fence rows and clean up around the place.

Property Update

A few more pictures on the property we are re-habbing.
These are from a few months ago at the end of winter.

Enough trees were cut that we could see and enter the house.

There were a number of sheds on the property but I use the term shed loosely.

These are all gone now.

From where I work at our church, I can see the back end of this property. I always know when I see smoke that he's hard at it.  I'm so proud of how he stuck with this project.  He worked his tail off these last months and the property looks so much better!

Already slipping

I'm already slipping back into my old ways.  It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted anything.  Sorry but life just gets so darned busy!  For instance today, we have a 50th anniversary open house and a high school graduation to attend and if the morning warms a bit more a flea market we'd like to go to.  So much for a restful Sunday.  I love our Saturday night church service btw.  If we didn't have that and threw in church this morning too yet, the day would really be out of control.

Anyhoo, I've been busy planting flowers (pictures coming in a few days as long as they survived the frost last night -- frost on May 15?  Seriously!?!) and keeping up with the random stuff life throws my way.

Yesterday I was able to spend most of the day in my sewing room.  I've been attempting to do that for months with no luck but now that I am down to the wire on getting a quilt done for a new grandbaby due to arrive early June, it was a must!   Here's a sneak peek at some of the fabrics in it.  The overall picture will have to wait until baby arrives. :)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

This young man turned 8 one week ago today.  I asked him a couple of weeks before his birthday if he wanted a gift or if he wanted lunch and to go shopping to pick his present out himself.  He picked the shopping trip.

Yesterday was the day.  Mr. O. is a pretty easy keeper.  He didn't want to go to Big Town an hour away.  He was content with WalMart 10 miles from home.  I did tell him he ought to know how much I love him if I took him to WalMart on a Saturday afternoon.  Yikes!  I barely do WalMart at 6:30am on a weekday morning. But I digress.

He picked a lunch of cheese curds, Dr. Pepper and strawberry shortcake frozen custard. It's his birthday afterall!

After lunch and shopping, we even made a stop at a new little candy store nearby.

We had a wonderful afternoon together and I, for one, loved the one on one time!
